BMX Streets is a physics-based BMX simulator where players are free to roam around a handful of areas to take in the view or work on their bmx skills. Given its simulation roots, the game features a unique, complex, control scheme where the controller bumpers are used to move your hands and the triggers for your feet.

Given that performing tricks require players jumping, while you pedal while you using the A button, you need to use the right joystick to jump. The controls are tailored to represent a simulation of the extreme sport, which also stops players from spamming tricks non stop.
The game offers a solid range of areas to ride around. You can practice around three different levels or jump into the more serious stuff with the game’s six built in levels. You can also customize your bike and change character by choosing one of the many BMX pros. You also have access to a drone for some reason.

The game looks fine but can’t help to think that it looks like a beta version of a game; environments are overall well designed, with minimal detail. The visuals really accentuate this game being a beta or demo version of a full game. Independant from the gameplay, games like THPS have living environments with things moving around, but this is just dead. The soundtrack is pratically non existent. There’s a faint ambient tune playing in the background and you hear the soundbytes of you pedalling and what not, but that’s it.
Where do I begin. There’s no real purpose to this game; no objective, or at least the option to do objectives, so it’s just roaming around and trying to pull off tricks with the clunky controls. Speaking of which, the controls are overly complex and very counterintuitive, especially when trying to jump. If there’s nothing to achieve, why should I play your game?

BMX Streets was one of my most anticipated games of 2025; hoping that it would fill that Dave Mirra void, despite it being more physics based than arcade-y, but it’s basically one of my biggest disappointment of year and incredibly lackluster. This doesn’t feel like a complete game; it feels like a beta version of a game. I realized too late that it was the same studio that made another stinker, ScootX, but it’s the exact same template, except on a BMX bike. Don’t waste your time and money unless you have too much free time on your hands.
