The Cabin Factory is a very simplistic, liminal gaming horror experience. Players are tasked in visiting various cabins in order to inspect them and determining whether or not if they are haunted. While you explore the multitude of cabins, the “family” will mess with you.

Once you leave a cabin, you have to press Clear or Danger depending if the cabin is haunted or not. One of the twists is that the game will mess with your head. There will be situations where it seems like the cabin is haunted, when it’s not.
One of the scenarios will have you seeing the Father outside the cabin; but while this feels threatening, looking at him until the screen goes sepia will allow you to leave and press the Clear button on the machine. Not everything is what it seems so it does offer some brain teasers.

The game looks great yet very simplistic. It has a liminal design that’s quite tense, unsettling and unnerving. While the factory itself is fine, every time you step into the cabin, there’s a sense of eerieness. Although it’s the same cabin over and over, the scenarios will change and characters/plastic dolls will move around. There isn’t much in terms of audio, but that’s part of what makes it unsettling.
Given its limited gameplay, there isn’t much of a nuisance in this game. But the fact that if you mis-categorize a cabin, you have to start over, which can be incredibly annoying; especially when you manage to classify 7 of them right and then screwing up at the last second.

The Cabin Factory is s surprisingly unique and enjoyable liminal horror experience. While the gameplay is limited, it does require a bit of thinking and investigating skills as the game will do things to throw you off. However, it is annoying that you have to start over everytime to miss a decision. Every horror game fans should definitely pick this up as it’ll keep you busy for an hour or so, depending on how your investigating skills are.
