If you love simple arcade games that are good for all of the family, then Zumba – Marble Candy Rush could be for you. This title has a distinct old-school edge as you shoot marbles, grab power-ups, and aim to clear every obstacle before the marble train reaches the end. Despite its simplicity, it is oddly addictive and a great game to waste some time.
EpiXR Games has developed this single-player title. Sadly, there isn’t a split-screen option, and this is something that holds it back. I’d have loved a helping hand or to challenge my friends and family. Maybe this is something they can add at a later date. If they do, the game will be taken to another level.

Zumba – Marble Candy Rush has no story.
This indie title tells no story. Accordingly, I have no idea why the candy balls are dangerous, or why I had to destroy them. This wasn’t an issue, as a story would have probably fallen by the wayside. Instead, I focused on timing my shots, avoiding obstacles, and creating chains of 3 identical candy balls.
This is the limit of Zumba – Marble Candy Rush’s depth. Consequently, understanding what is needed is dealt with in no time at all. However, getting used to the obstacles and hoping for a little luck is a little less obvious. Therefore, there is a small layer of challenge as you try to complete each of the 150 stages.

An ideal arcade title.
Each level takes no time to complete. If you are lucky, you’ll get the right balls to destroy the snake-like chain of moving candies. However, this is unlikley and you’ll need some power-ups to overcome the obstacles you face. A meteor, a colour changer, TNT, and different time-altering abilities can be collected.
Each of these abilities must be hit by your never-ending supply of balls. This isn’t always easy, as things can stand in your way. However, if you can avoid the problems, you should be able to grab every power-up and enjoy the simple arcade mechanics.

Zumba – Marble Candy Rush is relatively dated.
Zumba – Marble Candy Rush has an Xbox 360 style. The colours are vibrant but a little too sharp. Moreover, the level design feels rudimentary, and I disliked the array of obstacles. Sadly, it wasn’t obvious what needed to be avoided and what was part of the background. This was a mistake and something that should have been improved. The audio is a strange blend of calm songs and hectic bass lines. It was a bizarre combination that added energy to the core mechanics.
Despite the issues with the obstacles, Zumba – Marble Candy Rush is easy to play. The simple controls take seconds to master, and understanding the special abilities will not push you. Subsequently, this can be enjoyed by gamers of all skills and ages. 150 levels is an awful lot! Furthermore, the more you progress, the harder things become. Therefore, there is longevity if you fall for its charms.
Zumba – Marble Candy Rush is a decent indie affair.
Despite its shallow content and basic approach, Zumba – Marble Candy Rush is a decent indie affair. It won’t wow you, but I liked the arcade mindset and the easy-to-understand mechanics. Moreover, the old-school imagery took me back to my youth. Therefore, I recommend grabbing a copy from the Xbox store!
