Mega Cat Studios and Exquisite Laundry Pet have released a new video devblog for Gumball in Trick-Or-Treat Land, offering frightfully fun insights into the making of the 8-bit adventure rolling onto Steam and Game Boy Color in 2026.
In the previous video, solo developer Adam Lewis Graf explored the origins of Gumball in Trick-Or-Treat Land, detailing the creation of its world, characters, and story, as well as the evolution of its turn-based battle system. Now, he transports players to Vampire’s Landing, a late-game realm ruled by a motley crew of bloodthirsty vampires. Watch as Graf introduces the town’s garlic-averse denizens, shares the inspirations behind their designs, explores composing the area’s haunting theme, and ventures deep into the hallowed halls of the Vampiric Cloister — home of the Vampire King himself!
“This area was a ton of fun to create – it was a fun challenge to take the age-old trope of a vampire castle and find a way to put a unique spin on it,”said Graf. “The vampires of Trick-or-Treat Land are not particularly sinister, but they are a little stuck up and will be quick to judge you for your lack of refinement. They mostly keep to themselves in the Vampiric Cloister – a secret monastery where they can drink high-quality blood in relative peace.”
Graf continued, “For those of you who yearn for late 90s halloween vibes, I hope this is something you can sink your plastic fangs into!”
