Beautiful Sakura: Surfing Club 2 tells the story of Kaito, whom, after graduating high school, returns to his hometown for one final summer before stepping into adult life. During his trip, our protagonist with reunites with his former surfing partners and two of his best friends: Michiko and Yuuki.

Beautiful Sakura: Volleyball Club 2 is a linear visual experience; devoid of any gameplay mechanics. Akin to the other games in the Beautiful Sakura universe, you’ll be reading a book (or maybe more appropriately, a manga) on your TV. None of the conversation have a single conversational choice; aside from when you’re waking up at the start of the game.

Again, akin to the big Beautiful Sakura universe, the game has a great manga visual style, although it does bordelines NSFW type of design. Both of Kaito’s friends has their own unique flirty style/look. The background, albeit very limited, also look decent and colorful. The soundtrack is a generic stock score that you’ll easily drown out.

Again the problem here is the lack of gameplay; or at the very least more meaty conversations and actual conversational choices to encourage players to replay and explore every possible path. Also £9.99 feels a bit steep for something that can be done in about two minutes; both the story and collecting all Achievements.

Beautiful Sakura: Volleyball Club 2 is an OK visual novel; there’s nothing special here. Unless you’re OCD and need to collect all visual novel, there’s no real reason to buy this. Sure, if you want an easy 1000Gs, all Beautiful Sakura games will fill that gap, but feels a bit expensive. I’m hoping one day the developer decides to be a bit move creative. Until then, this is a pass.
