We love covering simulator-style games here at Complete Xbox. If it involves buses and coaches, our top editor, Dave, is all over it; anything else usually has my name on it. Cash Cleaner Simulator, developed by Mind Control Games and published by Forklift Interactive Ltd, is now available on Xbox Series X|S and supports Xbox Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming. This gives Xbox players options to play on console, PC or any handheld device which supports the Xbox app. If you fancy being part of a money cleaning operation from the comfort of your living room, then this is the game for you!

Gameplay

Money laundering in the UK comes in the form of some dodgy-looking storefronts in inner-city areas selling high-value goods, usually confectionery from overseas. Here, you’re responsible for running a cash cleaning operation within a warehouse. The core loop of the game is essentially inspecting, cleaning and organising dirty, damaged and decent-looking banknotes. When receiving jobs, you’ll also get a ton of cash to work with. You’ll be scouring the floor, boxes and sacks looking for high-value notes and assessing for soiled or crappy-looking ones.

At first, sifting through these notes and sorting them became cumbersome to get to grips with. This was mainly from a controller perspective, but once you get accustomed to the process, it’s then plain sailing. Once you establish knackered notes and ones that can be salvaged, you can then process them through washing machines and cleaning zones. Beyond this, it’ll be a case of drying and repairing some bills in the hope of getting them through the door.

An Addictive Gameplay Loop

After an hour or so, the gameplay loop really clicked for me, and it became an addictive slog. Hours felt like minutes, and before you know it, you’re several hours knee deep in piles of cash. I loved the methodical operation of scooping up, sorting, washing, drying, repairing, packaging and dispatch of the money. You’re encouraged to sort everything properly, or you are penalised. As you progress, you can upgrade your processes to speed up your flow rather than manually performing every task.

Visuals & Audio

Cash Cleaner Simulator has been well executed from PC to Console. Most simulator games are a little ropey in the visuals department due to budget. On Xbox Series X, however, the game is crisp with no hiccups throughout my time with the game. It’s extremely well optimised with a clear 4K that targets 60fps on Xbox Series X. There were no visible frame drops to report during my 15 or so hours with the game. Seeing the huge flurry of banknotes strewn across the game on my huge 4K TV, along with the neon-infused UI, is aesthetically pleasing.

Audio design blends well with the rest of the game’s presentation. Hearing the ruffle of banknotes, the machine hums, and the sound of money being cleaned is satisfying with a top-quality headset. It’s one of the most polished “simulator” style games I’ve had the pleasure of playing.

Final Thoughts

Cash Cleaner Simulator is a clever and surprisingly addictive experience. It’s the perfect game to zone out to, thanks to its methodical play. Once you get used to the slightly awkward controls, it is an engaging and enjoyable time. If you’re on PC, I’d say this is the best place to play, as the game seems more suited to mouse and keyboard, despite being controller-friendly. For a very reasonable cost of £16.74 for the base edition of the game, it is well worth your time if you are into a low-pressure and casual sim that is perfect with a podcast or a bit of background music. If you fancy it, you can purchase a copy of the game for Xbox Series X|S HERE.
