I enjoy a simulation game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Coffee Plis Special Edition falls into this category. It is silly, vibrant, and the right side of challenging. However, it is only a single-player game, and this stops it from excelling like others in the genre.
This café simulation title was developed by Divert Games. It is easy to master, and I could work through the levels in no time at all. However, as the game evolves, the stages become much harder, and keeping on top of every order isn’t an easy feat. Consequently, it pushes you nicely as you serve cakes, hot food, and delicious coffee.

Coffee Plis Special Edition lets you become a Barista.
Being a Barista isn’t a lifelong dream. However, Coffee Plis Special Edition lets you master this role as you serve hot coffee to demanding customers. Although this idea could generate a wholesome and interesting story, the developer didn’t explore this idea. Instead, the coffee brewing and serving of food sit at the fore.
You play the role of a rookie café worker. The boss wants his cafes to thrive, and he expects you to take over managing the day-to-day business. Serving cakes, cooking food, brewing coffee, and cleaning the café are just a few jobs you must complete. Additionally, you have a limited time to complete your task and score the maximum 5 stars on offer.

Mini-games and simple action.
Each stage represents a tiny café in a different global location. Some have massive tables, whereas others offer outside seating and smaller, more personal spaces. It is your responsibility to speak to every customer and serve their food and drink as quickly as possible.
If you deliver cold food or drinks, it’ll affect your reputation and score. Alternatively, if you are quick and attentive, they’ll tell their friends about the excellent service. This aspect of the game was relatively basic and straightforward to understand. However, things become a little more complex when you consider the mini games. Each core task asks you to tap buttons or hold a button for a set period. This is made worse as you see the timer ticking down or new customers entering the building. Moreover, if you bash into a potential client, they’ll spill your drinks and become annoyed. Subsequently, you must be careful when playing Coffee Plis Special Edition.

Coffee Plis Special Edition is colourful but rudimentary.
I wasn’t blown away by Coffee Plis Special Edition’s graphical prowess. It was colourful, and the settings were suitable. However, it is a little dated and rough around the edges. This was unfortunate as it could have been brilliantly polished to stand out from its peers. The audio follows suit. It has a chilled vibe that reminded me of a hotel lobby. Therefore, it is neither offensive nor memorable, but it works well.
The controls were easy to master, but there were some hitbox issues. Whenever you undertook a task, you had to move away from the station to access the item. This was made worse when you tried to use the tray to carry more objects. This caused frustration and made a time-focused game more challenging than necessary. Replay value is limited to how many starts you wish to achieve. If you are a completionist, you’ll earn every achievement in no time at all. Sadly, there are no speedrun challenges or reasons to return once you maximise your score.
Coffee Plis Special Edition was good, but it lacks depth.
I enjoyed my time with Coffee Plis Special Edition, but sadly, it’s lacking depth. Although new items and elements were added regularly, it doesn’t change the action enough. Moreover, the clumsy controls hold it back. Accordingly, it is fun, but occasionally frustrating, yet you should buy a copy from the Xbox Store!
