Legends BMX is an arcade style BMX game where players can ride and jump around pulling off tricks and racking up big scores to earn the top spot. Players can either freely ride around the area practicing moves, attempt the time attack mode or try to climb the leaderboards by completing weekly challenges.

One of the game’s strong point is definitely the user friendly controls. Holding the A button lets you ride; while releasing it at the right time will give you decent amount of air; akin to the SSX series. While in the air, moving the left joystick allows players to do front/backflips and turns.
And in order to pull off tricks, using the right joystick in any of the four direction will let you perform a move. You can also easily grind with a quick press of the RB button or you can manual on the front or back wheel by holding the left joystick up or down.

As with any extreme sports game, you can change your character and ride by unlocking new goodies. You can unlock new stuff as you level up through completing time attacks. The higher the score, the quicker you’ll level up. Weekly challenges can include this such as scoring a set amount of points within a time attack or a specific sequence of tricks.
The game looks good overall; enjoyable 3D cartoon visual presentation, nothing realistic here. But it does the job well. The semi realistic riding parks are well designed and enjoyable to ride around in; nothing too overly complex. The isometric brings a different feel to the genre and easier to plan out where you’ll ride and the next sequence of tricks. Audio wise, there’s nothing really that stands out. There’s your typical VFX when jumping, riding and crashing out. The soundtrack is pretty barebone and generic. The countdown buzzer soundbyte was clearly stolen from Nintendo/Mario Kart.

While there’s nothing inherently wrong with Legends BMX, there’s definitely a limited appeal; there’s a lack of game mode variety. Additionnal game modes like a Challenge or a Career mode would’ve been a nice addition to keep players engaged. Sure there are weekly challenges, but at some point, they will run out of ideas.
Legends BMX is a great arcade-y BMX game. Easy to pick up and play (unlike the BMX street “game”) yet hard to master. While the game lacks in variety, the intuitive controls make it a blast to play, but mostly in short bursts. If you looking for a palette cleanser or something easy to pick up and, Legends BMX is a no brainer.
