If you want a simple puzzle experience that won’t test you, ParkingJam will be right up your street. Playing like a mobile phone game, you are in charge of clearing car parks. Alongside this, there are other parking challenges to tackle. As such, it has more depth than other titles from the developer.

QubicGames has developed this colourful and addictive puzzle affair. It is a single-player experience where you must move cars from a crowded car park. Despite the sense of trepidation and obvious risks, you can smash the cars up as much as you wish. This reduces realism slightly and makes the puzzles a little bit easier.

ParkingJam ditches the story and focuses on puzzles.

I have no idea why the car parks are jammed, and I don’t really care. Instead, I focused on making it to the exit and avoiding the old people and the occasional policeman. None of these obstacles causes problems as you time your approach and avoid them with ease.

The core mode focuses on the packed car park. As you progress through the levels, more obstacles and cars are added. This makes you contemplate many moves ahead as you force otherwise blocked openings. Alongside this, there are boss stages that push you to your limits. With set moves and plenty of cars, you can’t be wasteful. The boss stages were brilliant, and I wish the developer had this difficulty as the standard level design.

Extra modes.

Although the main mode will keep you entertained, there are several additional options in ParkingJam. Each one offers fresh mechanics and a slightly more complex experience. Furthermore, you may spend your hard-earned cash in one mode to make things easier.

This additional depth makes this a more fulfilling game that will entertain and test you. If I were to be critical, I think the developer should have made more of the additional modes than they did. Had they been better incorporated, the game would have been improved.

ParkingJam has clean visuals.

ParkingJam isn’t an artistic masterpiece. Instead, it utilises vibrant colours and cartoon graphics. This worked well as it allows you to focus on the puzzles with minimal distractions. The audio is understandably rudimentary. A repetitive soundtrack may drive you mad, but I didn’t mind the greatest hits of lift journeys on repeat.

The controls could have been better. Although the control setup was simple and the UI clean, it wasn’t always easy to select the right car. I’d guess that this was ported from PC, and things would be better with a mouse and keyboard. There are loads of levels and plenty of additional objectives. As such, you could play this for hours. However, it is an easy completion as well if that’s your thing.

ParkingJam is a nice casual game.

If you want an inexpensive and casual puzzle game, ParkingJam is good. It is pleasant to look at and easy to understand. Furthermore, I liked the additional modes. Accordingly, it’s a nice indie game, and you should pick up your copy from the Xbox store!
