Skyline Bowling is an easy to pick up and play bowling game. To pick up ball the ball, simply hold A and then swing with the left joystick. Once you’re ready to launch, release A. The higher the swing, the stronger the bowl. Each game is like a mini-tournament.
To make it to the next round, you need to hit more pins than the others. If you survive three rounds, then you’ll end up on the podium and gain experience point on your way to level up. Once you level up you’ll earn a loot box which will reward players with an aesthetic item or a new bowling ball.
One of the most interesting features is the lanes. None of them are standard per se. Before each mini-tourney, you’ll random have a type of lane to play; either with jump, gaps, bumps; which adds a layer of challenge. As you level up and climb up the proverbial ladder, you’ll earn new lanes such as toys in the way or moving boxes for example.
At certain instances, you’ll get to participate in mini-games. For example, at one point you’ll be required to knock as many pins under a specific time limit. It’s a nice diversion and successfully completing the objectives rewards players with more goodies. As you level up, you’ll also gain special skills you can equip before the rounds; like additional throw power or having a gust of wind possibly knocking down missing pins.
The game looks fair; nothing really special here. It could’ve easily been a PS2 game. Character models can also be reminiscent of Nintendo’s Miis. There’s one thing to be said about the diversity of lanes, which makes it stand out from the typical bowling game. The soundtrack is nothing really special; same tune that loops over and over constantly. You’ll forget about it after a round or two.
Honestly there’s nothing inherently wrong here. My only complaint would that it would’ve been nice to have a bit more of diversity in terms of bowling gameplay; maybe like a mini-putt terrains. The more I think about, the less I find anything wrong.
Skyline Bowling is a fun, addictive easy to pick up and play bowling game. It can be easily played by anyone; and it’s easy to get suck into the game. It’s always just one more game. Whether it be for some diversion from over the top, AAA games, or just casual fun with loved ones, you can’t go wrong with Skyline Bowling; lots of bang for your buck.
