The most famous beagle in the world has to be Snoopy. Having graced the world with his presence for over 75 years now, it surprises me that he is still going strong. The Peanuts gang, created by Charles Schulz, has been a staple of childhood nostalgia for many generations gone by. It’s lovely to see that the artistic influence still lives on in the video game world, this time with Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club. Developer Cradle Games and publisher GameMill Entertainment bring this whimsical world to Xbox Series X|S in a delightful action-puzzle adventure that’s equal parts brain-teaser and heartwarmer. If you’re after an adventure that is engaging for a younger audience and super casual for the older crowd, then look no further.

Gameplay

At its core, Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is a semi-open-world adventure blended with puzzle-solving and minigames, all viewed from a third-person perspective. Set in a compact neighbourhood where exploration is key, you’ll be doing a lot of wandering backwards and forwards. Exploration is key: roam freely to gather clues, scan for footprints or use gadgets like a metal detector for buried treasures. Snoopy will don different personas throughout the game, which will allow for various gameplay mechanics to assist with your case-solving. Wear the Detective hat to highlight clues with a magnifying glass; switch to Beagle Scout for leaf-blowing windy obstacles; go Pirate mode to dig up dirt mounds with a shovel; or unleash the Flying Ace for aerial dogfights.

Each case requires chaining these abilities creatively. For example, blowing leaves to reveal a path, digging for a key, then scanning for the culprit’s trail. Puzzles are brain-teasing but never frustrating: object hunts in cluttered rooms, pattern-matching memory games, or timing-based button presses for football kicks. They’re paced perfectly—kids feel clever without hints, adults breeze through with a smile. Minigames are knit between the exploration and case solving.  Hit home runs at the baseball field, mess around in Woodstock’s lab making potions, and play Schroeder’s piano to unlock songs. You can even have a good old-fashioned race in the soapbox derby. Whilst I found all of these painfully simple, to a child, they would be fantastic fun.

Visuals & Audio

Visually, Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club nails the Peanuts aesthetics right across the board with well-designed character models from the cast. I genuinely feel that Charles Schulz would be impressed at how the gang appear in video game format. Sadly, he passed away in February 2000, but his legacy lives on here. The presentation is very well optimised for Xbox Series X|S and targets 4k at 60fps. The game also plays well using Xbox Play Anywhere technology, and I managed to test it with the Lenovo Legion Go and my Acer Nitro gaming laptop. Happy to report back that the game functions butterly smooth across all the platforms I played on.

Load times are near non-existent, with only a brief flicker when changing environments, like walking through the doors of the school. Whilst the map isn’t vast, you can see that some great work has been poured into the environmental design. Audio design is also a standout, with some excellent work done with the voice acting. Snoopy himself has some funny barks and quirky thoughts, Lucy has a sassy and bossy personality, and Marcie is the more serious character of the crowd.

Final Thoughts

Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is an unapologetically wholesome experience that isn’t particularly challenging. It provides a brief burst of nostalgia for parents and some enjoyment for kids. It’s the perfect game if you’re just introducing them into the gaming scene or you want to build their confidence in using a little brainpower, figuring out some simple case-solving quests. It is remarkably short, at around 6 hours, if you want to tick off everything the game has to offer. That said, it’s an easy 1000 gamerscore for the achievement hunters out there, but the cost may be a little high for some for the amount you receive in return. If you’re an avid fan of the Peanuts crew, though, the price point may not matter to you. You can purchase the game for Xbox Series X|S HERE.
