Puzzle games can be relaxing or unbelievably frustrating. Either way, they’ll test your brain and push you to think outside of the box. If you love this genre and you adore trains and train sets, Teeny Tiny Trains is the game for you. It is a fun and often tough puzzle title that looks simple, but it is anything but.

Short Circuit Studios has created this cute and geeky train toy set puzzle game. It is a single-player experience where you must lay tracks and guide up to 4 different coloured trains. Each level has unique problems and obstacles to overcome. Consequently, you’ll have to think a few steps ahead if you wish to succeed.

Teeny Tiny Trains focuses on the puzzles.

Unsurprisingly, Teeny Tiny Trains has no story. Instead, it is the puzzles that take pride of place. Although this could have incorporated a minor plot, it doesn’t impact the action in any way. Instead, players can focus on laying track pieces and moving trains correctly.

The action revolves around an array of different worlds. Each one has plenty of levels to complete and fresh mechanics as you progress. On top of this, there are extra hard stages to master if you wish to test your grey matter. This was perfect as the action felt tough but balanced. Furthermore, if you are a genre expert, the hardest stages will push you to your limits.

A game of cat and mouse.

Just when you think you understand Teeny Tiny Trains, a new element is added to the mix. Whether it is a new obstacle or additional coloured trains, you must adjust your thinking. Alongside this, you are asked to station the trains in a particular order. Subsequently, your planning must be on point the further you progress.

This game of cat and mouse ensures that things never get boring. Additionally, you are rewarded with a golden ticket if you complete the level with the fewest moves possible. These tickets open up new worlds and new opportunities. If this isn’t enough, there are collectable toy trains to add to your collection.

Teeny Tiny Trains is simple, but it looks great.

Despite its simple style, Teeny Tiny Trains looks great. I love the vibrant colours, pleasant animation, and the classic look of each train and piece of track. If you have fond memories of playing with wooden train sets, this will tug at your heartstrings. The music is comfortable, calm, and mellow. It suits the lack of pressure and is a joy to listen to.

Excellent controls.

The control system is great. You may use the free-flowing drawing system to create your track layout or use a placement system. I used both and preferred option 1. However, if you want fewer accidents, the placement system is more definitive. Replay value depends on your desire to test your brain. If things get tough, it can become quite frustrating. Therefore, this could be a puzzle game that drives you insane. However, if you fall for its charms, you’ll play it for hours.

Teeny Tiny Trains is tough but cute.

As a puzzle experience, Teeny Tiny Trains is good. The visuals are clean, and I like the audio. Moreover, the puzzles are tough but enjoyable. Although it frustrated me, I couldn’t stop until I solved each problem. Accordingly, it’s good, and I recommend getting a copy from the Xbox store!
