Peruvian indie developer Dream Potion Games has teamed up with ABONICO GAME WORKS, Resistance Studios, Selecta Play and Hidden Trap to bring Mago: Hyperdelicious Edition to PC and consoles in Q4 2026, delivering an expanded version of the retro-inspired platformer packed with new content, gameplay improvements and physical collector’s editions.
Inspired by classic 8-bit and 16-bit platformers, Mago: Hyperdelicious Edition combines side-scrolling action with RPG mechanics, colourful pixel art and whimsical world design.
The updated edition introduces a substantial amount of new content, headlined by the addition of the “Dream World,” a brand-new post-game area featuring four new boss battles, collectibles, alternate costumes and a dungeon-inspired gameplay segment reminiscent of classic adventure titles. The new world also includes a dynamic dream-to-nightmare mechanic that changes environments, enemies and music in real time.
The developers have also added several accessibility-focused features, including a fully optional Easy Mode that grants players double health, removes instant-death pits and makes checkpoints free to activate. An Auto Run option has also been implemented, allowing players to focus entirely on platforming and combat without manually holding the run button.
Originally developed as a nostalgic tribute to genre-defining platformers, Mago blends traditional jump-and-run gameplay with magic-based puzzle solving, exploration and mini-games. Players take control of a young wizard armed with a magical wand as they journey across eight handcrafted worlds, each featuring unique mechanics, hidden secrets and themed boss encounters.
The game also introduces a variety of gameplay twists, including levels where players can pilot a giant mecha robot. Between adventures, players can return to the town of Musicalia, a hub area filled with upgrades, NPC interactions and references to classic gaming culture.
Alongside its retro-inspired gameplay, Mago: Hyperdelicious Edition promises a soundtrack designed to evoke the “golden age” of gaming, with the developers emphasizing nostalgia, memorable melodies and classic platforming charm throughout the experience.
