CD Projekt Red has officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a brand-new expansion for the critically acclaimed RPG, set to launch in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S.

The surprise expansion marks the third major add-on for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will see players once again step into the boots of legendary monster hunter Geralt of Rivia for an entirely new adventure.

According to the developer, Songs of the Past is being co-developed alongside Fool’s Theory, a studio made up of industry veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3. CD Projekt Red confirmed that additional details about the expansion will be revealed in late summer 2026.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of the most celebrated role-playing games ever made. The title has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide.

Set in a sprawling dark fantasy world, The Witcher 3 follows Geralt of Rivia as he tracks monsters, navigates political conflict, and searches for his adopted daughter, Ciri, in what became one of gaming’s most acclaimed storytelling experiences.

With Songs of the Past, fans can expect another return to the Continent as CD Projekt Red continues expanding the legacy of one of modern gaming’s defining RPGs.
