There’s a new threat in No Man’s Sky called The Swarm – the third update for this year brings a focus on space combat and its free.
A new danger has appeared in the No Man’s Sky universe. Something terrible hangs in the sky: a huge, foreboding Hive-like ship, unlike anything we’ve seen before. It has nigh-on impenetrable defences, not least a swarm of smaller and nimbler battle drones which must be neutralised to get close enough to target its primary weapon systems, notably the biggest laser cannon our universe has ever witnessed.
You can read the full update details here.
It will take a combined community effort to take it down, but the Traveller soul is fragmented into three; all three groups are competing for glory, but will also need to co-operate and strategise to take down this existential threat to the universe.
Epic and chaotic space battles await for the bravest and nimblest space pilots who dare to take on this faceless but formidable technological terror which has mysteriously appeared. Fully decked out S-Class ships assemble!
Those less adept at space combat can also contribute to the effort to overcome this common threat. There are a range of ways to contribute: from digging up corrupted debris, to facing off against miniature planetary swarms, to sabotaging the swarm’s network. The secrets of the Hive’s origins and weaknesses can be uncovered and shared with your fellow rebels by heading down to nearby planets and investigating and pillaging the remains of crashed drones. Another utility for the newly acquired Gravitino Coil!
Your contribution to the face-off with the Hive is being logged for all to see in both the Anomaly and the Galactic Atlas. Travellers will want to keep a constant eye on which squad is contributing the most to the war effort: the most valuable team will be memorialised in the Space Anomaly for all time.
There are enviable spoils for those who square up to the Hive: an exclusive multi-tool, jetpack and exosuit- themed souvenirs of your brave sacrifice.
