Gothic 1 Remake is available now on Xbox Series X|S, bringing one of the most beloved cult RPGs of the early 2000s back to life. Gothic 1 Remake has been fully rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 while staying faithful to the atmosphere, story, and brutal charm of the original classic.

In Gothic 1 you step into the role of the Nameless Hero – a prisoner thrown into the Valley of Mines. A ruthless penal colony surrounded by a magical barrier. Inside, prisoners rule themselves, with three rival camps fighting for power.  Alliances are constantly shifting, and survival depends entirely on how well you adapt to this unforgiving world.

Originally released back in 2001, Gothic earned its legendary status through its immersive world-building, reactive NPC behaviour and ecosystem, challenging progression, and unmatched sense of player freedom.

But keep in mind, that Gothic has always been a game that refuses to hold the player’s hand. There are no glowing trails leading you through the world. No enemies magically scaling to your level. Nothing stopping you from wandering somewhere dangerous far too early. If a creature looks terrifying, that probably means it can kill you.

Gothic 1 Remake is developed by Alkimia Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. You can purchase the game now.
