Hi guys, my name is Gaming_Loft and I would firstly like to thank the folks at CompletXbox for the opportunity to write for them as a guest reviewer. I have been an xbox gamer for years, I have the badges to prove it and have always loved the Halo franchise.

When the opportunity came up to try out a game that was inspired by Halo, I jumped at the opportunity to try out another game that had been inspired by the amazing team at what was Bungie and jumped straight into SPRAWL Zero.

SPRAWL zero is a first-person shooter inspired by the golden age of early-2000s console gaming, combining nostalgic Y2K aesthetics with fast-paced combat, intelligent enemies and a gritty cyberpunk setting. Drawing inspiration from classics such as F.E.A.R. and Halo, it aims to capture the spirit of an era when the FPS genre was expanding beyond corridors into more ambitious, immersive worlds.

Players step into the role of FIVE, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier under the control of the Junta, tasked with eliminating SILAS, the leader of the radical techno-religious group IMAGO-DEI. As the city descends into chaos, FIVE must navigate a dangerous web of competing factions, uncovering the truth while fighting to survive.

Overall my first impressions of the game were not amazing, i’m honest,  I could not find any inspiration from the Halo franchise throughout the gameplay that i could relate with. The presentation and graphics on the other hand are exactly as they say on the game card’s discription of the game and are indeed very 2000’s like, with a feeling that felt more like Doom, than Halo.

In SPRAWL zero you have telekinetic powers to grab weapons, and then hurl them at enemies, to cause significant damage, and should you want to get creative with the game, you can also use these powers to grab creates and barrels and throw them at the enemies instead. This can make for some great laughter  moments, watching rocks and creates go flying at the enemies.

Unfortunatly you only get to carry one weapon at a time, which is frustrating for a game in this genre. Other modern versions of games in this field, usually allow you to carry more than the singular weapon for different situations or a quick change, which is always much faster than reloading from my experience.

Run out of ammo in SPRAWL zero, then use the weapon through the air, throw that damn thing! For me, this is a unique concept,  I have never seen this before in a shooter, and fun too. If all else fails, punch everything!!

Overall the game, felt like bullet storm with its bullet time skill, crossed with old school Doom which is fun, however i struggled to see the Halo influences that it described, which was a little dissapointing. For all of SPRAWL zero’s fast paced core, the enemies die a little too quick for my liking and the graphics, all though described for what they are, maybe not what you would expect to see for the price of the game currently on the store, it’s a little pricey for my liking.

If you like your retro FPS then this is defiantly for you. As an Indie game developed in a year by 4 people, this has got some foundations to become a great game. If your used to your Call of Duty, Destiny 2 or Halo level of graphics, then I would give this one a miss.
