I’m all for film franchises cashing in on their fame. However, they rarely offer much detail and feel like a bit of a cash cow. This was how I felt about the 2010 Toy Story 3 game. Roll on 16 years, and I’m tackling Toy Story 3: Complete Edition on Xbox. This is a remaster of the original, so many of the improvements can be seen in the visuals, controls, and performance measures. Accordingly, if you disliked the original, I can’t see your opinion changing too much.
Atari has published this 3D adventure title. It is a single-player game that has close connections to the 3rd film. It is filled with many of the beloved characters, and players can explore the core locations. This is great if you adore the franchise, but not so exciting if you dislike it. Either way, it is colourful, fun, and full of small but interesting stages.

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition keeps things familiar.
Andy is preparing to leave for college, and the toys are worried about their future. Sadly, they find themselves in Sunnyside Daycare, and everything is not as it seems. Lotso is a manipulative control freak, and the toys must escape to find a new home.
The story isn’t as captivating as the film as the plot flows as fast as the ability of each player. However, I enjoyed each segment and the nod to every protagonist. Moreover, the levels incorporate some fun collectables, currency, and other bits and pieces to expand the game beyond a simple adventure platforming experience.
It’s all about the teamwork.
Teamwork is a key component of Toy Story 3: Complete Edition. Whenever Woody, Buzz, or Jessie are teammates, they must assist one another to solve puzzles, leap chasms, and find treasures. Additionally, they need to help one another to complete an array of tasks.
None of these elements is challenging, but they are ideal for younger gamers or those who wish to have a calm and casual time. Each of the heroes has a unique approach to traversing obstacles. Jessie is agile and quick and can reach otherwise unreachable locations. Buzz uses his strength to toss his pals and move objects. Finally, Woody has a pull-string lasso to swing across gaps. Each must assist one another as they traverse boxes, play areas, and other familiar locations.

Toy Box Mode.
Toy Box Mode is where this shines. It is a sandbox option where you assist the locals, customise the buildings, and let your creativity run free. It is fun, mindless, and a little silly. The tasks are perfectly safe, and finding collectables and building the Western city of your dreams was enjoyable.
A major improvement for Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is the inclusion of PlayStation-exclusive content. This won’t shock PlayStation fans, but we Xbox gamers will appreciate a look at what we’ve missed all those years ago.

Toy Story 3: Complete Edition has sharper visuals.
The Pixar-inspired visuals have aged pretty well, but this remaster has polished things nicely. The characters are sharper and more detailed, and this complements the texture resolution and vibrant environmental effects. Moreover, it supports up to 60 FPS for a smooth gaming experience. Although it is clearly a 16-year-old game, it looks amazing, and I loved seeing the characters bloom on modern machines.
The audio is nicely balanced. There is drama, sadness, excitement, and energy to be experienced. The soundtrack is filled with classic tracks that take you back to the film. Moreover, the sound effects work exceptionally well with each high-energy moment. Explosions, one-liners, and other key components bring the game to life.
Easy to play.
I let my kids give this a go, and they thrived. Toy Story 3: Complete Edition offers a simple control system with easy-to-follow tutorials. Consequently, they rarely struggled to execute new mechanics. Additionally, they could recall each core idea as they moved between characters.
If you love Toy Story and you want to relive the film, this offers plenty of replay value and longevity. Each level can be experienced repeatedly, and there are loads of collectables to find. Although I found it to be a little repetitive, my kids enjoyed the sandbox mode and searching every level.
Toy Story 3: Complete Edition helps you to relive the fun.
Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is a joyous title that works well for modern machines and audiences. Although it is a little unnecessary, I like the plot, the simple-to-follow mechanics, and the colourful and polished visuals. Accordingly, it was a winner in my house, and I recommend grabbing a copy from the Xbox Store!
