Christmas is near, and we will soon be in the swing of things if you’re not already. (I’m sure many of you have attended at least one Christmas get together by now)

Sometimes it’s nice to come home and relax with a nice cup of something, normally hot chocolate when the weather’s a bit frosty, I would love to say snow, but in the good old UK it very rarely snow’s around Christmas these days, unless you reside in the north parts of Scotland.

This time of year it’s always nice to bring out a board game, or an old party game to enjoy with love ones, and what’s even better is when you combine the two, after all Christmas is all about the parties, the classics and spending time with those we hold dear to us.

If you’re in need of a bit of help for what fit’s the bill, then why not checkout Ticket to Ride on Xbox One, the first modern board which has been wonderfully adapted for console.

Ticket to Ride is a million seller board game revolving around trains. In the beginning of the 20th century, you must create your own railroad network to link specific cities across all of USA. The longer the route, the more points you will earn.

The original board game was released in 2004 by Days of Wonder, and on the very same year, its digital adaptation was launched as an online game before coming to smartphones and tablets in 2011.

Based on this history, it was only natural for a console version to be developed, and this can now be played on Xbox One.

Of course, as the community has grown larger, expansions and new maps for the game were released, and for a new kind of challenge you can try 10 different maps, with the action taking place in other parts of the world and new rules for each map!

The Nordic Countries DLC is free to download from the Microsoft Store and I can’t think of a more perfect map for the holidays.

Ticket to Ride is now available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One.
