If you’ve ever watched CSI or Mindhunter and thought, “I could solve that in twenty minutes,” it’s time to put your money where your mouth is. Publisher Aerosoft and developers Binary Impact and Alchemical Works have officially announced that Forensics: Crime Scene Detective is making its way to Xbox Series X|S on July 13, 2026.

Forget Hollywood-style, action-packed shootouts. This game is all about the quiet, methodical, and incredibly tense world of actual forensic science.

Real Police Training Meets Gaming

What sets Forensics: Crime Scene Detective apart from your average detective game is its pedigree. The developers built this simulator in close collaboration with Germany’s State Criminal Police Office (LKA RLP).

Instead of following scripted, hand-holding quest markers, you’ll be using real-world investigative logic. The cases you’ll tackle are inspired by actual scenarios, meaning you’ll need to rely on scientific methods rather than lucky guesses to crack them.

From the Field to the Lab

The gameplay is split into two distinct, highly detailed phases:

  • The Crime Scene: You’ll search apartments, bars, and dark basements to secure traces left behind by criminals. You’ll use authentic gear to dust for fingerprints on glassware, analyze blood spatter geometry, and extract hidden digital evidence from mobile devices.

  • The Laboratory: Once you’ve bagged your evidence, the real work begins. You’ll head to the lab to run DNA profiling, conduct ballistic analysis, and piece together the timeline.

Warning: Your instincts actually matter here. If you overlook a crucial piece of evidence or misinterpret a lab result, you could easily incriminate an innocent suspect—or let a killer walk free.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Authentic CSI Toolkit: Utilise DNA swabs, luminol, ballistic tracking lasers, and high-tech digital analysis tools.

  • Evidence-Driven Outcomes: There are no forced conclusions. Your logic dictates the end of the case, whether that means a conviction, an exoneration, or a cold case.

  • High Realism: Developed alongside real German state police to ensure every procedure feels authentic.
