Console gamers will soon get their hands on a decidedly non-traditional take on classic monster lore. Publisher JanduSoft and Portuguese developer Digitality Games have announced that Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire is officially launching on Xbox on September 30.

Set in Transylvania, the action-farming rogue lite follows the story of Voltaire, the rebel son of Dracula. Following a sudden epiphany, the young protagonist abandons his family’s traditional blood-soaked diet in favour of plant-based nutrition, setting out to prove to his iconic father that vampires can thrive without preying on humans.

Gameplay is split across a distinct day-and-night cycle:

  • Daytime Farming & Exploration: Players cultivate crops using magical seeds, expand their farm, forage for resources, and explore new territories across Transylvania to unlock recipes and boost Voltaire’s vampiric powers.

  • Night time Horde Defense: Displeased with his son’s lifestyle choices, Dracula dispatches waves of supernatural minions to destroy the farm. Players must utilize Voltaire’s dark abilities and defensive crops to ward off hordes of creatures and defeat formidable bosses sent to force him back onto a blood-based diet.
