Get ready to slice, parry, and style on the syndicate. Developer Amber Studio has officially announced that Mexican Ninja, a fast-paced 2.5D roguelike beat ’em up, will launch on August 20 on Xbox Series X/S.
Set in the chaotic, neon-drenched streets of Nuevo Tokyo, the game explores a bizarre feudal future ruled by the “Narkuzas” – a ruthless regime formed by the merger of Mexico’s cartel kingpins and Japan’s Yakuza clans. Playing as the titular Mexican Ninja, players are tasked with leading an underground rebel uprising to take down the five heads of the Narkuza clan, one high-adrenaline duel at a time.
Mexican Ninja blends classic arcade beat ’em up combat with modern rogue-lite progression. Designed to be easy to learn yet challenging to master, the gameplay prioritizes precise positioning, tight movement, and split-second parries.
Because every run is randomised, no two attempts to reclaim Nuevo Tokyo are the same. Between runs, players can train under El Mero Mero Sensei, earn favour with Mexican-Japanese spirits, and unlock customizable gear to craft devastating combat builds.
“This is the moment we have been building toward,” said Dario Hoyo, Creative Director on Mexican Ninja. “Every parry, every jutsu, every run is about that feeling of getting knocked down and standing back up with more swagger than before. Mexican Ninja has always been a vibe, a spirit, a way of being—and now players everywhere can find their inner donkey.”
