Microsoft has unveiled Project xCloud, a streaming service that will allow Xbox games to be played across a range of devices, including Android Phones and Tablets.

Microsoft will be installing custom hardware into their Azure data centres worldwide that will support the infrastructure needed for Project xCloud. It will be possible to stream across 4G and when it launches, 5G networks.

Developers will also be able to implement Project xCloud compatibility into their games with ease, with Microsoft commenting that to do so with no additional work.

Project xCloud was first hinted at by Phil Spencer during this year’s Xbox E3 Media Briefing, and now Microsoft have confirmed that work is well underway on the project and they are currently testing the service already. Public testing will roll out in 2019.

With Xbox hosting an XO Event next month in Mexico City, it is very possible we may see and hear a little more on Project xCloud then.
