Independent developer Paper Cat Games has pulled back the curtain on Paper Perjury 2: Shadow of Justice, the eagerly awaited sequel to its critically praised 2024 paper trail investigation game. Slated for a 2028 release, the sequel will arrive simultaneously on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.
Picking up directly after the events of the original game’s downloadable content, Shadow of Justice returns players to the shoes of Justina, a former police clerk turned full-fledged detective. While maintaining the quirky charm and clever investigation mechanics that fans loved in the first title, the sequel promises a much darker and more intense narrative. This time around, Justina’s unwavering faith in the law begins to fracture as she uncovers potential deep-seated corruption within the Azure City Police Department, forcing her to walk a dangerous tightrope between official duty and institutional injustice.
The central conflict of the sequel revolves around a cunning serial thief who has evaded capture, pushing the Azure City Police Department to its breaking point. Players will once again have to outsmart criminals and solve intricate cases in a world where, as the title suggests, the shadow of justice looms heavy over everyone.
For players eager to catch up on Justina’s origins or experience the series for the first time on new platforms, Paper Cat Games has another surprise in store. The original Paper Perjury is officially making its way to console platforms, heading to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles in 2027. This console port will feature the full lineup of the original base game cases as well as its post-launch DLC cases.
Fans looking forward to the continuing adventures of Azure City’s sharpest detective can expect further updates and details from Paper Cat Games in the near future.
