Despite having a widely successful first crowdfunding campaign by amassing double the target amount (¥98,863,825 of the ¥45,000,000 goal), Granzella Inc. just unveiled that a new crowdfunding campaign will launch on 1st October and run through 1st November in order to give the developer the best chance possible at creating the best shump (shoot’em up) ever created.

The original R-Type Final game first released exclusively for PS2 in Japan in 2003 while North America and Europe had to wait until 2004 to get their hands on the newest game of the long-running shump franchise. The game scored an average of 79% on Metacritic. The current in work sequel is currently slated for release on Xbox One in December of next year; not considering any possible delays.

This would mark the second R-Type game to land on a Microsoft console after R-Type Dimensions for Xbox 360, now backward compatible on Xbox One. But it would be the first new game to launch on Xbox One along other platforms.

The goals from the previous campaign will carry over so they can pick up where they left. The campaign will run on the game’s official website.
