One week after the highly praised global launch of Gears of War: E-Day, developer The Coalition has officially flipped the switch. As of today, competitive Ranked play is live across all platforms.
When E-Day initially debuted on October 6, the choice to hold back the game’s ranked environment raised a few eyebrows within the multiplayer community. However, the studio intended for the seven-day buffer to let fans absorb the campaign, master the new hybrid shooting mechanics, and learn the multiplayer maps before diving into high-stakes matchmaking. With that grace period concluded, the real sweat begins.
The launch of Ranked brings four distinct playlists designed to test different facets of team coordination and individual skill:
- Demolition
- Crucible
- Conquest
- Team Deathmatch
True to the franchise’s competitive roots, each individual playlist features its own unique rank and hidden skill rating. Players will need to complete a series of initial placement matches to earn their division and ladder ranking. From there, the climb relies purely on performance: winning earns rank points, losing subtracts them, and individual impact determines the severity of the swing.
