Retrowave action roguelike Mega City Force is expanding its turf beyond PC, officially bringing its high-octane, pixel-art crime-fighting experience to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on August 21st.

Developed by Amsterdam-based solo developer Undreamed Games and published by Ravenage Games, the title initially debuted to strong acclaim on Steam back in 2023. Now, console players can take up arms to defend a crime-ridden dystopia, either solo or with a partner via revamped local couch co-op.

Set in a retrofuturistic metropolis overrun by rampant crime and corrupt megacorporations, Mega City Force places players in the boots of incorruptible law enforcement agents.

Key Features Include:

  • Diverse Agent Roster & Weapons: Choose from multiple distinct agents, each featuring unique skills, special abilities, and a vast arsenal of firepower to tackle brutal bosses.

  • Roguelike Replayability: Procedurally generated levels ensure no two runs are the same. Finishing the game unlocks higher difficulty tiers and new loadouts with legendary outfits inspired by iconic pop culture figures.

  • VHS-Era Aesthetic: Every pixel and item is designed as a love letter to 1980s and 1990s action cinema and classic games.

  • Synth-Wave Soundtrack: Collect in-game audio cassettes featuring driving synth-wave tracks by artists such as Timecop1983, Sublunar, Occams Laser, Nightcrawler, and Pixel Rebel.

Console-Specific Enhancements

The upcoming console launch brings tailored updates to improve the experience on the big screen:

  • Reworked Couch Co-Op: Streamlined multiplayer allowing friends to team up locally and clear out waves of criminals together.

  • Optimized Controls: Fine-tuned gamepad responsiveness designed specifically for console hardware.

  • Big Screen Visuals: Retrowave aesthetics adapted for modern TV setups and handheld gaming on the Nintendo Switch.

Mega City Force will be available digitally across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on August 21st.
