Developer Steel Mantis and publisher Silver Lining Interactive have announced that Slain 2: The Beast Within is coming to Xbox Series X|S, expanding the upcoming gothic action sequel beyond its previously announced PC release.

The announcement is accompanied by a brand-new animated trailer showcasing the game’s signature heavy metal-inspired fantasy style, while PC players can get an early taste of the action thanks to a newly released playable demo available now on Steam.

A sequel to the cult-favourite hack-and-slash title, Slain 2: The Beast Within once again pits players against the demonic forces of Lord Vroll. This time, players take control of Prince Akran, the last surviving Wolf Knight, who must wield the sentient sword Bathoryn in a desperate quest to save a world consumed by darkness.

Combat remains at the heart of the experience, with players combining melee attacks and elemental abilities granted by Bathoryn to overcome hordes of monstrous enemies. However, when steel alone isn’t enough, Akran can embrace the curse running through his veins and transform into a powerful werewolf, unleashing devastating claw attacks and overwhelming brute force.

The adventure will take players across three hand-crafted regions, from haunted castles and ghost-filled seas to the depths of a nightmarish abyss, culminating in battles against towering bosses including ancient spirits, witches, warlocks and grotesque monstrosities.

For collectors, Steel Mantis and Silver Lining Interactive have also confirmed a physical edition for PlayStation 5. Launching alongside the digital version, the boxed release will be available to pre-order for £19.99, offering fans the opportunity to own a physical copy at a time when many new releases are shifting towards digital-only distribution.

While an exact release date has yet to be announced, Slain 2: The Beast Within is now confirmed for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. In the meantime, PC players eager to experience the game’s brutal combat can download the free Steam demo and begin their hunt ahead of launch.
