Welcome to Snapshot! In a nutshell – Snapshot is a little feature that provides a snapshot of information on a game that we have checked out or have been playing recently. The article will be packed with screenshots, and a general overview of our opinion of the game without review score.

Having spent the last few months chatting away to the gaming community, developers, publishers, and PR companies alike, I’ve come to the conclusion that whilst game reviews are important, and we will always continue to provide them at Completexbox, they are not always the be all and end all.Sometimes people just want a snapshot of a games make up and what it has to offer, so that they can decide for themselves, and out of this research Snapshot was born.

Next up for the Snapshot treatment…

I’ve recently been playing Chernobylite a science-fiction survival horror RPG from developers The Farm 51. The game is set in the hyper-realistic, 3D-scanned wasteland of Chernobyl’s Exclusion Zone, you’ll take on the role of Igor, a physicist and ex-employee of the Chernobyl Power Plant, returning to Pripyat to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, 30 years Prior.

Throughout Chernobylite you compete with a hostile military presence, and encounters other dangers such as stalkers, supernatural creatures, as well as a harsh and unforgiving environment, as you search the landscape to uncover the truth of went down all them years ago.

Chernoyblite Features

Stealth, Survival, & Combat – Survival in the zone is not easy, and each day brings new challenges as comrades die and supplies diminish. Avoid detection with stealth takedowns or engage in open armed combat. Danger lurks in every corner.

Base Building & Crafting – Construct a base from which to plan your daily operations and excursions. Utilise workstations to craft gadgets, create traps and weapons, or modify existing equipment to your needs.

Resource & Team Management – Companions are key to your survival and the resolution of your journey. Each day requires the careful planning and assignment of resources and tasks to your comrades.

Non-Linear Storytelling & Strategy – No playthrough is the same. Like your choices, the story is in your hands. Choose wisely whether to trust your comrades or not, use resources for survival or research, and confront conflicts or evade them. The future is up to you.

Chernobylite GamePlay

You play the role of a physicist, formerly employed at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant who is suffering from the loss of their loved one in the Chernobyl disaster 30 years ago and returns to the disaster zone to look for their partner. Most of the single-player gameplay revolves around exploring the exclusion zone, gathering supplies and tools while encountering “Stalkers” and hostile military personnel. The player is also forced to make decisions which affect the nonlinear story line. There is also a crafting system, which allows the player to craft their own equipment and weapons. Any character can die, and any task can be failed. Deep in the contaminated environment also lie strange supernatural threats, due to the “chernobylite” created from the nuclear aftermath.

Overview

Chernobylite is a thrilling adventure of survival, conspiracy, horror, love, and obsession. The attention to detail in this game is second to none, a fantastic recreation of the exclusion zone at Chernobyl offers the perfect setting for such a powerful story, that builds from the moment you start your playthrough. Turn the lights low, and raise the volume of the speakers, you are in for an atmospheric treat, which will heighten all your senses. The intrigue of the land and the disaster event intrigues you, and pulls you in, as your imagination runs wild.

The gameplay is that of a brilliant survival adventure, with an excellent base building opportunity, all captured via a first-person perspective. The game offers a wonderful open-world, RPG experience that will have you on your toes, it’s truly worth your time, that’s for sure!

The only question is will you survive your fears once you pick it up!
