1047 Games postpones splitgate release to August after 2 million players collapsed servers: game announces funding of more than $10 million thanks to Human Capital
The beta of the game will be extended in the coming weeks with new maps, updated content and an increase in server capacity
providing a completely revamped gaming experience for its veteran PC gamers and introducing a unique twist by combining portals and classic arena gameplay for console for the first time. 1047 will update the pre-release beta on Tuesday with some of the content planned for the premiere while 1047 continues to increase server capacity.
Tuesday’s pre-release beta will feature three new maps and brand-new customization options. It will also include many features frequently requested by those who have played its open beta, including support for the mouse and keyboard and a slider for the FOV on consoles in addition to customizable controls.
1047 Games kicked off its open beta crossgen and cross-play on July 13. In 14 days, Splitgate has experienced explosive player growth, testing the infrastructure of the game itself and the servers on a daily basis. The four engineers out of 1047 (out of a total team of 30 people) were able to go from 400 simultaneous players to more than 75,000 in a matter of a few days.

With the sudden and pronounced increase of players trying to access the servers, we have to solve countless technical problems caused by this insane level of growth.
