Indie publisher Digerati and developer Failbetter Games will bringing their award-winning Gothic horror RPG, Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition, to Xbox One on April 24th. The Xbox One’s development is currently being handled by Nephilim Game Studios.
The game first released on PC way back in 2015 and its storytelling received particular acclaim, winning Rock Paper Shotgun’s ‘Best Words’ award, and receiving nominations at the Golden Joystick Awards (Best Storytelling), Develop Awards (Best Use of Narrative), and Writers’ Guild of Great Britain (Best Writing in a Video Game).
Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition has players looking for the protagonist’s father’s bones as they defy the gods of the seas. It also features real-time combat against ships and Zee-beasts, spider-crewed dreadnoughts and sentient icebergs. Players can also upgrade their steamship with powerful engines, cannons and pneumatic torpedo guns. Beware as if you stray too far from civilization and your crew will grow fearful and eventually lose their sanity.
