I was late to the party with Elden Ring and only managed to get around to it earlier this year, I fell in love with it despite it being my first dive into the Souls genre. Fast forward to the launch of WoLong Fallen Dynasty in March and I was more open to trying out another Souls/like title, expect this time from Team Ninja.

After an initial four-hour struggle with the first boss, I was hooked and played it to completion, even managing to wrap up the 100% for the full 1000G. And so arrives The Battle of Zhongyuan, the first DLC for WoLong Fallen Dynasty, available now.

Having played for around 80 hours so far and diving into the DLC, it is still managing to provide the same level of entertainment that I found with the main. Structured similarly to the main game, giving you some new main battlefields and sub-battlefields, along with flags to claim and pandas to feed. It’s more WoLong which in my eyes, is a great thing because I adore this game a lot, which goes against the mixed reviews it’s received on Steam.

Just like the main game, the Battle of Zhongyuan provides quite a challenge, with some interesting and frustrating bosses who feel great to overcome. New weapons, new demons, new divine beasts, there’s plenty to chew on in this first expansion.

You can grab Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on sale right now with the standard coming in at £43.99 and the deluxe at £59.99 on the Xbox store currently and, the Battle of Zhongyuan for £9.49. Of course, if you’re a fan like me you’ll most likely be better off with the season pass which you can pick up for £19.99.

Including a total of 3 DLC’s it’s probably the best bet. With another expansion launching in September titled Conqueror of Jiangdong and the final one in December titled Upheaval in Jingxiang.

If you like Souls-like titles and haven’t played Wo Long for some reason yet, this is one to try out for sure. We also have a review here written by yours truly if you’re still unsure.
