Just the words The Dark Crystal bring back so many memories for me, and upon hear the title name I am swept back to my childhood, I remember the Jim Henson marvellous puppet film creation, it was mysterious, atmospheric and had that chill factor too, a must watch for anyone that’s never seen the film before.

As with many things from a golden era of TV and film, a makeover or a reboot is usually on the cards, and The Dark Crystal is one of those examples, and for me if the market is there, then surely a game based around the feature has to be a viable option. I for one miss the days of games based around tv and movies, it use to be the norm. Now don’t get me wrong, many of these games were below par, but there were certainly some stand out games that I’m sure you all remember, and maybe, just maybe, The Dark Crystal could be the kick this sleepy genre needs.

So, with all that being said It’s time to Unite the Clans as The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics looms near, with the launch just days away on February 4th, the game is now available to pre-order on the Microsoft Store, presents players with the opportunity to unite the Gelfling clans of Thra against the villainous Skeksis by embracing each clan’s unique abilities, and using them strategically to help their team of heroes battle the Skeksis and withstand the corrupting influence of the Darkening.

In the Netflix Original Series, “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” the differences between the seven Gelfling clans sometimes creates unrest, jealousy, and distrust. In the game The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, players need to strategically use and smooth out the clans’ differences to help their team of heroes defeat their Skeksis overlords.

Each of the Gelfling clan lives in a different biome within the world of Thra. We gave each clan a unique bonus attribute related to their different environments. A clever player can use those bonuses to their advantage.

Dousan

The northern Crystal Desert holds few Gelfling, but the nomadic Dousan Clan, including Rek’yr, call the desert their home. In order to adapt to a land of frequent sandstorms, members of the Dousan Clan developed improved Accuracy and Evasion. These bonuses make them formidable front-line fighters.

Drenchen

The twins Gurjin and Naia are members of the Drenchen clan. The Drenchen live in the Swamp of Sog, within an ancient tree known as the Great Smerth. Because they’ve adapted to living in the swamp, the amphibious Drenchen are immune to Poison. This makes Drenchen Gelfling particularly effective against enemy thieves.

Grottan

Deet is a member of the Grottan clan. The Grottan live in the Caves of Grot, where they protect the Sanctuary Tree. As cave dwellers, Deet and all the Grottan are at home in the dark—a very useful attribute for when opponents try to Blind them.

Sifa

The Sifa live in coastal villages along the Silver Sea. The courageous Sifa deal additional damage while their health is low. Sifan are good to have on your team when healers may not be available, or within range.

Spriton

The pastoral Spriton clan are primarily farmers who hail from the southern plains of Thra. The Spriton value the harmony and balance of nature—and this is reflected in Kylan and all Spriton Gelfling as bonuses to both Magic damage and defense. This bonus is very useful for spellcasting characters.

Stonewood

The forest-dwelling Stonewood are among the strongest Gelfling warriors, and are often called upon to act as castle guards. The Stonewood come from the Endless Forest, near the Crystal Castle. Attacks from members of the Stonewood clan, like Rian, have increased Critical Chance. Many jobs can capitalize on this attribute by combining with skills that trigger effects on critical hits.

Vapra

The proud members of the Vapran clan live in the mountains along the northern coast. These Gelfling are scholars, crafters, and artisans. Due to their affinity for creating objects, the Vapra get increased stat bonuses from Equipment. Vapran characters are likely to be the best-equipped members of your team.
