INK ENIGMA 2: Hidden Object Challenges Review

Casting my mind back to my childhood, I remember being slightly addicted to the Where’s Wally series of books. Glancing across the pages and attempting to spot an image of Wally in a busy environment was fun. What if I told you there was a similar experience in video game format? INK ENIGMA 2: Hidden Object Challenges is now available on Xbox Series X/S and even the trusty old Xbox One. What’s even better is that this is Xbox Play Anywhere-enabled, so you can also pick up and play on PC and Handheld, all with one purchase.

For a reasonable price of £4.99, you’ll get a good few hours out of it. Let’s face it, for that cost, that wouldn’t even buy you a beer in most pubs these days.

Gameplay

The premise is very simple, and that is to observe each image and locate the hidden objects within them. There are 45 levels to work through, and each takes as long as it takes you to find the objects. Each level allows three hints if you get really stuck with it, but I tried hard on each image to try and locate everything without taking the hints. There are, however, a couple of achievements that unlock if you do use hints. What I loved is that every picture was different from the last, which made it enjoyable to play with no two levels ever feeling the same. Clicking in areas too much without locating an object will inform you that you’re clicking too much. So you do need to be precise with your selections. For the achievement hunters, they are super simple to unlock simply by working through the levels.

Visuals & Audio

INK ENIGMA 2: Hidden Objects Challenges is very simplistic when it comes to presentation across the board. Each level appears like a page from a colouring book that hasn’t been coloured in. Objects are very well hidden amongst the images, and I honestly had a tough time solving some of them. You can zoom in and out of the pictures and also change the colour that you circle the hidden objects with. When it comes to audio, there are subtle sound effects, and the standout is probably the relaxing soundtrack.

Final Thoughts

INK ENIGMA 2: Hidden Objects Challenges isn’t a lengthy experience by any means; it’ll take you a couple of hours at most. But what I did play was intriguing enough for me to plough through in one sitting. Some levels are super challenging and had me scouring and scratching my head for a while. There are some really clever designs and artwork here, and it’s a delightful play if you’re just looking to chill and delve into something that isn’t too taxing. It’s suitable for any age or calibre of gamer, and my eight-year-old son enjoyed sitting with me and trying to locate all the hidden objects.
