Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have released a brand-new story trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, offering players a deeper look at the dark world and mysterious story awaiting them when the game launches later this month.
The latest entry in the award-winning A Plague Tale series is set to release on August 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X|SÂ with pre-orders now available.
The new trailer takes players to the mysterious depths of Minotaur Island, where protagonist Sophia finds herself fighting for survival after a heist goes disastrously wrong.
Following the events of the failed robbery, Sophia is forced to flee Venice. With only her trusted companion Leni by her side, she must uncover the secrets hidden beneath Minotaur Island while attempting to escape a terrifying force that is hunting her.
As with previous games in the series, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy looks set to combine a dark atmosphere with a narrative steeped in mystery and ancient history.
The game takes players into the ruins of a forgotten civilisation, where Sophia will uncover the truth behind legendary myths and explore the origins of the Macula.
Sophia Brings a New Style of Combat
While A Plague Tale fans will recognise the series’ focus on exploration and survival, Resonance puts a greater emphasis on Sophia’s combat abilities.
Players will be able to use a range of weapons and techniques, including chain sword attacks, dagger strikes, parries and kicks. Understanding enemy behaviour will also be important, with Sophia needing to study her opponents before deciding how best to approach each encounter.
These include looks at the game’s environments, the importance of light when exploring its darkest locations, Sophia’s character and backstory, as well as the enemies players will face.
Fans attending Gamescom will also have the opportunity to get hands-on with Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy before its release. The game will be playable at both the Focus Entertainment and Xbox booths, giving attendees a chance to experience its unsettling atmosphere and gameplay for themselves.
