Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party Review

If you want something that is colourful, hectic, and great to play with your friends, then Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party should be on your radar. It captures the madness and silliness from the TV series. Furthermore, it is perfectly safe for younger gamers. Yes, it has a sense of Monopoly anger, but this genre is famous for making people rage quit, so who cares?

This casual party game was developed by BALIO STUDIO, and it is a single-player or couch co-op experience for up to 4 players. There is a board game mode, mini-games to unlock and master, and a host of other game modes to enjoy. Accordingly, it packs a lot into its high-energy atmosphere. I know what you’re thinking! This is just a TEMU Mario Party. Well, I thought that before I played it, and I have to say it is a great game on its own merits. It is silly, enjoyable, and great if you have younger kids or competitive friends.

Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party tells no story.

Unlike some of its peers, Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party doesn’t have a story. Instead, it focuses on trying to replicate the madness of the TV series. I think it does a great job, as Grizzy is angry, gruff, and a little aggressive. The Lemmings are funny, mischievous, and the right side of annoying. Therefore, it made me chuckle and rarely outstayed its welcome.

The action is nicely balanced as well. Younger gamers will be able to tackle every mini-game and the board game with ease. There is an advantage if you have better hand-eye coordination, but the phrase “Get Gud” was uttered many times as my kids complained. I’d say I gave them a chance, but what’s the fun in that? Instead, they levelled the playing field by teaming up on me, or kicking me out of the game altogether.

Plenty to do.

If you have the time, the board game is where you will focus your energy. Each reasonable attempt lasts anywhere from an hour to two hours, so you’ll need to plan accordingly. I adored the 5 boards on offer. Each has unique obstacles and themes to keep you interested. Although the mini-games came around quite quickly, it didn’t bother me.

Unlike its peers, Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party doesn’t have a 1 vs 3, 2 vs 2, and so forth. Instead, the board game has you competing against everyone throughout. This was great, as the traditional method can generate some angst. If this is your thing, you can opt for this mode when you hit the mini-game area.

Each mini-game offers a wide range of skill tests. You’ll need fast reactions, good driving skills, quick thinking, a fine memory, and so forth. Winning them is essential as they give you the edge during the board game element. There are no participation medals, and the winner takes all. This makes it super competitive but fair.

I adore the eye for detail and the interesting board game themes. Additionally, each of the mini-games has its own style. Most of them play out from an isometric viewpoint, and this makes it easy to keep on top of the action. The action is smooth, and I experienced no glitches or frame rate problems. The audio is as loud and energetic as expected. There is upbeat music, ear-splitting sound effects, and a cute layer that matches the silly nature of the lemmings.

The controls are great, and every mini-game starts with a tutorial. This can be ignored if you are familiar with the task at hand, but I found it was a nice way to keep the kids up to speed. The button layout was aimed at a wide audience, and the inputs are responsive. The result is a user-friendly game that is ideal no matter your ability. Replay value and longevity depend on your love of this genre and desire to unlock everything. There are plenty of mini-games to unlock, loads of lemmings to add to your roster, and plenty of fun to be had.

I’m a sucker for this genre, and Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party didn’t disappoint. It got things just right with its loud audio, vibrant colours, and varied mini-games.
