Ukrainian-developed narrative survival RPG Hollow Home is coming to Steam and Xbox on January 27, 2027, bringing a story inspired by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the siege of Mariupol.
Developed by Kyiv-based studio Twigames and published by Crunchy Leaf Games, Hollow Home puts players in the role of Maksym, a 14-year-old boy attempting to survive as his city is torn apart by war.
Inspired by Disco Elysium and This War of Mine, Hollow Home takes a different approach to survival. There are no weapons or battles. Instead, players must navigate difficult moral decisions, build relationships and face the consequences of their choices.
The story begins 24 hours before the invasion, on what Maksym believes will be an ordinary day. When he wakes up the following morning, his life has changed forever.
Players will explore three districts of the besieged city, complete branching quests and engage in conversations that influence the story and its multiple endings.
Twigames began developing Hollow Home in spring 2022, shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. The team hopes to show the impact of war on ordinary families through Maksym’s experiences.
The project was also funded through Kickstarter in August 2026, reaching 140% of its funding goal with support from 558 backers.
