Last week saw the much anticipated release of The Witcher 3, a game which promises to offer over 100 hours of in-game content, not to mention a world much bigger than that of The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim or GTA V. It’s an appealing proposition – a massive open world offering lots of content, but how does it fair?

For one a lot of people worry about the size of the map to the scale of the content. The Witcher 3 has a lot of open landscape such as fields and forests, which don’t offer much in particular apart from scenery. I guess what I’m trying to say is that a lot of it is useless scenery and not actual content and some of the quests might just be defend a crashed wagon from a lot of flesh-eating Drowlers. Content very much evolves around the map and where it posts you to, so you won’t always be using most of the map for questing. What it does do however is offer exploration with landmarks such as old castles and ruins to search through for useful loot.

GTA V is particularly good at this, with many famous landmarks or just chic little buildings you might find offering an awesome stunt jump or place to set up a roleplay situation such as a hotdog stand. These large worlds leave a lot to the imagination and for those of us who aren’t quite as imaginative; they might find themselves lost in all of this.

How much does the size of the world matter to you? Or are you more interested in the content offered to you? Let us know in the comments below.
