After much speculation, Ubisoft has unveiled Assassin’s Creed Syndicate during a live event yesterday evening.

The title which will intrigue many, will be set in London in 1868 with a Victorian setting.

Featuring two main protagonists – twins Jacob and Evie Frye, players will assume the roles of more brash and relentless characters. Set in an open world like previous Assassin’s Creed titles, you’ll be able to switch characters freely like you can in GTA V. Story missions will be confined to each character though.

Famous historical figures include the likes of Charles Dickens and biologist Charles Darwin, who will all serve as allies to the assassins.

Good or bad news, depending how you see it. The game will be single-player only, as Ubisoft said the development team in Quebec can “focus on creating the biggest city based open-world that we’ve ever had for an Assassin’s Creed game”.

In fact Syndicate will be 30 per cent larger than Unity’s map, as London will consist of six boroughs: Westminster, the Strand, the City of London, Lambeth, Southwark and Whitechapel. The River Thames will also serve as a vital landmark throughout the title.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will release on Xbox One on October 23rd.
