Capcom showcased the first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance during PlayStation’s latest State of Play, confirming the massive expansion will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Set after the events of the main game, the narrative kicks off with an attack by the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung. In response, the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team constructs the Madoi Stronghold. The path clears to reveal the Skybound Eyrie—a floating, cloud-filled realm featuring ancient ruins and unique endemic life. A matured Nata returns to aid the team alongside a new companion, Bangard the Wudwud, to investigate strange phenomena, unseen Guardian Monsters, and invading Elder Dragons.

The trailer highlighted several fresh threats and gameplay mechanics:

  • Araketa: A high-speed, pack-hunting aerial wyvern that uses wing-generated air currents to fly and commands its group via distinctive vocal calls.

  • Gundoraja: A massive, storm-bending serpentine Elder Dragon making its series debut.

  • Boost Bracer: A new gear piece that temporarily unlocks enhanced attacks, extended combos, and high-mobility manoeuvres for all weapon types.

Capcom plans to reveal additional weapon capabilities and gameplay features as the 2027 release approaches.
