Ubisoft has announced that as part of the game’s 5th-anniversary celebrations, Far Cry 5 has received a free update that now allows the game to be played at 60FPS on Xbox Series S/X Consoles. This update is free and will apply to all game modes in Far Cry 5.

Players on Xbox Series S will be able to enjoy a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60FPS gameplay whilst Xbox Series will be able to enjoy a native 4K 3840 X 2160 resolution at 60FPS.

As part of the celebrations, Far Cry 5 will also be free to play from March 23rd – 27th and available to purchase at an 85% discount. All progress from the free period will carry over should you decide to purchase and keep the game. Far Cry 5 is also available on Xbox Game Pass.

Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world in rural Hope County, Montana, by a fanatical doomsday cult, players will need to join forces with residents to create a resistance and liberate the community and themself. Players will have to take to the skies in dogfights against cultists across Big Sky Country; destroy cult supplies with vehicles, explosives, and more; and recruit Guns for Hire from a large cast of characters, or even Fangs for Hire, specialised animals like bears and cougars to complement players’ playstyles whether they’re going in stealthily or forcefully. How players approach each situation and the chaos they create in Far Cry 5 is up to them.
