Devolver Digital over the past few years has cemented itself as one of the best indie publishers. With games such as Broforce, Carrion, Death’s Door, Hotline Miami and many more in their back catalogue, it should be no surprise that their latest game, Cult of the Lamb, is fantastic.
With a Happy Tree Friends-esque aesthetic, Massive Monster has created one of the most absurdly brilliant games of 2022. While also showing the dangers that organised religions can have when power corrupts.
The game has been gathering record sales, fantastic reviews and topping sales charts on all platforms.
However, there is a bug currently in the game that renders it completely broken. The Ritual Bug that is causing more and more issues for players on all platforms.
The Ritual Bug occurs randomly where, as the video above shows, rituals that take place in the game freeze and won’t allow the player to progress. The player and NPC’s will be stuck in a limbo-like state where the only button that works is the “pause” button.
At first, players thought this was a one off glitch. But Reddit, Twitter and Youtube have been flooded with people wanting to know a simple answer. How do you fix the Ritual Bug?
Massive Monster, Massive Issues
As of right now, Massive Monster is aware of the bug and has confirmed that they are actively working on patches for all platforms. But the bad news is that as of Version 1.0.6 the update doesn’t fix the issue.
However, there is a simple way to bypass the problem. Luckily when in-game when the freeze occurs you can still use the menu, meaning you can save the game during the ritual.
Once you reload the game you will have lost the material needed to perform the ceremony and gain the faith needed.
The bad news is that for any quests you have, these cannot be completed. Thus rendering the game essentially soft-locked by this glitch.
There is also currently no news on how the fix will affect current save states.
Cult of the Lamb is a fantastic game currently being overshadowed by a large number of bugs. Ultimately Cult of the Lamb is a very enjoyable game that is being marred by technical issues.
When these are eventually fixed it may well be a Game of the Year contender. But as with most games these days, the launch has been less than perfect.
The game is currently available on Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox & Steam with a physical edition of the game on its way shortly too.
