Spiders, the studio behind popular action RPGs such as GreedFall, Steelrising, and The Technomancer, is reportedly set to shut down following ongoing financial difficulties at parent company Nacon.
The report comes from French media outlet Origami, which claims that Spiders may soon close after no buyer was found for the studio. Nacon recently entered insolvency proceedings, creating uncertainty around the future of several of its subsidiaries.
As part of efforts to reduce debt, Nacon reportedly attempted to sell both Spiders and Nacon Tech. Other studios under the Nacon umbrella, including KT Racing and Cyanide, were also affected by the company’s financial issues, although they were not listed for sale.
According to the report, no offers were made for Spiders, which was founded in 2008. A court-appointed administrator overseeing Nacon’s restructuring is expected to request the studio’s liquidation in commercial court this Wednesday. Sources described the move as largely procedural at this stage.
If confirmed, the closure would mark a disappointing end for one of France’s notable RPG developers and could also result in job losses for employees.
