Warner Bros have announced the sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, with Middle-earth: Shadow of War due out later this year on 25th August 2017.
Shadow of Mordor was very well received, picking up a number of awards such as 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year. This time you’ll be returning as Talion and Celebrimbor, going behind the enemy lines of the Dark Lord Sauron and his evil army.
One of the biggest battles does actually sound like a truly epic showdown, as it’s against Lord Sauron himself, as well as Nazgul, so the open-world action title sounds like it will be following closely in the footsteps of its predecessor.
Other new additions include a personalised world, where your decisions now affect the environment and characters you come across on your adventure, creating a new personal experience for every player. So characters will recognise you later on in the story, which will affect their relations with you.
Interestingly, the game has also been confirmed for Project Scorpio (Xbox One’s upgrade), as well as the Xbox One console itself. It will also be an Xbox Play Anywhere title for PC and console, allowing gamers to continue their progress across platforms.
