Play together on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and Windows!
Imagine this: you’re going to a party with a friend. As soon as the door opens, you get asked, “what platform do you play games on?” Confused, you go along with it (because mama raised you to be a polite guest) and answer that you play on Xbox while your friend plays on Nintendo Switch. You’re then torn apart from your friend and forced to go to two different parties! What do you do now?
Dear reader, this is not the world’s most heavily branded choose-your-own-adventure novel. It’s a real dilemma for us who want to play Minecraft Dungeons with our friends on different platforms. Or, it was a dilemma – but not anymore! Once you download the free cross-platform play update that goes live today, you will be able to play with your friends no matter what platform or console they’re playing on. Play the game together on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows! Finally, a party where nobody is sitting awkwardly in a corner watching others have fun.
For questions about cross-platform play, the free update, or the upcoming cloud save feature, please refer to this FAQ. In the meantime, if anyone invites you to a party where you can only hang out with people who all play games on the same platform, you leave that party immediately and jump into the nearest game of Minecraft Dungeons. Remember: the only thing more important than defeating the Arch-Illager is friendship (and sick loot).
