Independent developer Blue Lily has announced that its hand-drawn 2D survival horror game Moonlight Pale has successfully unlocked console releases and physical editions following a rapid Kickstarter campaign that reached full funding within 24 hours of launch.
The crowdfunding campaign has now surpassed 300% of its original goal, allowing the team to expand the game with a range of new features and platforms. Blue Lily has confirmed that Moonlight Pale will launch on Xbox Series S|X.
Since the campaign began, backers have helped unlock additional language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, as well as Mac and Linux versions, extra endings, outfits, and new game modes. Console support and physical editions are the latest additions, with the next stretch goal — set at 1,000,000 MXN (approximately $59,000 USD) — focused on funding additional animated cutscenes to further expand the story.
Set in a late 1800s female seminary, Moonlight Pale combines classic survival horror mechanics with a fully hand-crafted visual style. Every piece of artwork in the game is illustrated, coloured, and animated by Ao Clover, creating a distinctive 2D aesthetic.
Players will explore St. Birgitta’s female seminary using a mix of investigation and survival mechanics, including Search and Caution states, inventory-based puzzles, and strategic decisions over whether to fight or escape.
The game’s soundtrack is composed by Arai Tasuku, known for work connected to NieR: Automata and collaborations with artists including Mili and World’s End Girlfriend. The fully voiced cast features performers such as Kira Buckland, Lizzie Freeman, Diana Garnet, Chiisa, and Michelle Marie.
With console versions, physical releases, and additional content now unlocked, Blue Lily says Moonlight Pale is continuing to grow beyond its original vision as the team moves toward release.
