One of my favourite Soulsborne clones of the last few years, Lords of the Fallen, has once again found a developer for it’s sequel after CI Games put it on hiatus.
New York based Defiant Studios will now take the helm on the project. They’re a new team made up of former members of Avalanche Studios but there’s very little information about them.
For those who didn’t pick it up when it released, or gave it a miss when it appeared on Games with Gold, Lords of the Fallen was heavily inspired by the Soul’s games. It followed the story of Harkyn – a big bald, paladin bloke with a voice like Ray Winston. You fought through several different environments, all suitably gothic in style, and smashed demons. All of this led to typical Soul’s style boss battles.
CI Games boss Marek Tymiński said: “We talked to a number of globally respected studios that had shown a strong interest in making the next LOTF, and received several solid pitches. We finally decided to move forward with Defiant because we were impressed with their game concept, production expertise, and the pedigree of their developers.”
Several pitches? Does that mean we’ll see a new concept based in the LotF universe or are they just bringing some new ideas to the genre? Let’s just hope it’s an improvement on CI Games Sniper: Ghost Warrior titles…
At this moment we have no release date, but expect it to appear on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
