There is a distinct lack of Pool and Snooker titles on consoles, especially memorable ones. When I speak of the standout games, I think of Pure Pool and Snooker 19. With Pure Pool almost 11 years old now and the only recent Snooker experiences being totally pay-to-win, yes, I am looking at you, Snooker Blitz. It is the perfect opportunity and window for another decent billiards game to enter the market. Publisher Ripstone Games, who are close friends of mine, are back with Pure Pool Pro, which is scheduled to arrive in Summer 2025.
Rack Em Up!
You’ll be glad to hear that Pure Pool Pro has the green light to come to several platforms and will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Playstation 5, Steam and Epic Games Store. The other exciting news is that the game will feature full cross-play functionality across all platforms. With the original Pure Pool being an older title now, it was before cross-play was introduced into online multiplayer titles, so the servers are often quiet. This will keep the servers nice and busy and allow you to compete against a broader range of players and also match up with your mates wherever they are. At the time of writing, there doesn’t appear to be news on a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 release, though I wouldn’t rule it out in future.
