More than 10 million downloads in less than 30 days

The summer gaming phenomenon Splitgate will remain open in beta in the coming weeks, in order to allow 1047 Games to continue the technical adjustments to meet the gigantic craze around its multiplayer shooter in arena. The game has been downloaded more than 10 million times, while its beta has been open for only 30 days.

In a few weeks, Splitgate grew from 4000 to 175,000 players connected simultaneously: this explosion of popularity pushed the studio to rethink its network infrastructures, as well as to quickly find a solution to reduce the waiting time between games. Updates to the backend framework are made daily, in addition to bug fixes and minor improvements. But the studio has several content updates in its boxes for the rest of the year, including the arrival tonight of the highly requested fashion Duos Classés. Important announcements will be made at gamescom 2021!

“This is clearly the most surreal period of my life,” says Ian Proulx, CEO and co-founder of 1047 Games. “Thefan support has been amazing, even as we work to improve the player experience. We couldn’t dream of having to increase our server capacity so quickly, even though it pushed us to face significant challenges in keeping up with player demand. All these steps taken in a short time have allowed us to create a stable gaming environment, where players can quickly find a server to play. I am proud of what our team has accomplished, but there are many more challenges to overcome!”

“When it comes to backend network resources, the process involves many more elements than just the capacity of the servers. Our main goal is the stability of the servers, and we are itying on the capacity of the game to minimize the waiting time of the players. We want to do this right, and we’re also preparing for a big new challenge when the game officially comes out. While waiting for this crucial step, we are improving the beta with frequent updates, additional content and permanent adjustments at all levels.”

Splitgate is a first-person online action game that invites players to create portals to move around arenas and take the best out of their opponents. First released on PC in 2019, 1047 Games’ main project was re-announced on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in the spring, before experiencing a lightning success that propelled it to the forefront in a short time. The open beta is free to download.
