Mopping up blood, guts, and other disgusting fluids isn’t my idea of fun. However, Crime Scene Cleaner had me doing just that. This gory House Flipper and Powerwash Simulator mix-up is available on Game Pass. Furthermore, it is a single-player endeavour that is pretty slow and surprisingly relaxing.
Developer President Studio SA has done a nice job of keeping you hooked as the bodies and blood pile up. Every crime scene is a grisly place, and knives, guns, and bottles are the weapons of choice. Though there are plenty of stomach-churning moments, the gameplay will not push you over the edge.
Crime Scene Cleaner is fun but repetitive.
If you dislike Powerwash Sim, I’d probably give this a miss. Many of the core mechanics are similar, and the action is repetitive, slow, and occasionally arduous. However, if this sort of action tickles your fancy, you’ll adore every mob-filled moment.
The hero is just a regular Joe. His daughter is ill, and his insurance is refusing to pay out. Unfortunately, his janitorial job is going nowhere, and he desperately needs more cash. A long-term friend offers a shady job opportunity, and the protagonist accepts, begrudgingly. This decision is the catalyst for a disgusting career alongside some dangerous people.
Plenty of tools and grim locations.
Crime Scene Cleaner has a fantastic skill tree that improves your cleaning prowess. Whether it is a new sponge, pressure washer, mop, detergent, or a better bucket, you can unlock them all. Skill points are gained when you earn money. Accordingly, you must maximise your profits by completing every task and stealing some things along the way.
Each of the seedy locations was great to look at. The blood splatter, rubbish, bodies, and detailed furniture were all well designed. Moreover, each location is nicely varied, and I enjoyed the vast spaces and the ability to highlight dirt with your cleaning vision. The grim action is supported by decent audio. The sound effects are realistic, and I enjoyed the squelching noises and the gushing water.
Crime Scene Cleaner is aesthetically pleasing, but there are minor graphical issues. Bodies get caught on windows and your truck. Furthermore, there are ghosting problems and the occasional issue with body parts becoming stuck in items.
If you can stomach it, Crime Scene Cleaner is a great title.
Much of the UI is familiar, and this was a good decision. A radial menu is used to help select your array of tools. Furthermore, the cleaning vision prevents you from aimlessly searching every crime scene. Though I found it a little repetitive, there was enough of a challenge to keep me playing for hours.
Crime Scene Cleaner is unbelievably gruesome. The amount of blood and the disgusting nature of each location won’t be for everyone. Additionally, the use of drugs and crime may not appeal. However, if you can cope with virtual blood and the horrific nature of each chapter, you’ll adore every moment. I enjoyed it, and the fact that it’s on Game Pass makes it even better. Consequently, I think you should get your copy from the Xbox Store.
